Product brand design for Neve’s Bees – colourful natural skincare products
Objectives
1/ Appeal to people who care for their skin and want something a bit ‘different’
2/ Get across the feeling of being in touch with your inner child, without looking childish
3/ Have impact in the gift market
4/ Bright, energising, lifts the mood, is something you would love to hold
5/ The brand needs to stand out on social media
The process
Mood boards, pattern concepts, logo designs, packaging designs – the initial stages were exploratory to see what fitted and what gave the wrong impression. Colour choices were a big part of the development. Julie launched with one product line – lip balms – and 6 flavours. There are now 8 different product categories, 5 product ranges, and a growing range of gift sets.
Results
A big colour palette of bright colours and unusual combinations was going to serve the new brand in the long term because Julie planned to add products and ranges over time. A Black and white logo would give a strong foundation and be a constant thread across all products and promotions. Hand drawn pattern designs would give a consistent theme yet be flexible to grow into a large family of products. All the colour would come from the product packaging allowing it to be the hero in all the marketing collateral.
